Olivia Bergman

light came from his teeth and its

edging into morning -

whatever wall came down last night

Is building back up
   from the throat up

bricks in your mouth –

chew them slowly so he won’t hear

your back is to the bedroom wall

“I can’t do what’s good-

    please look at me,
hey   are you listening?

I said I can’t do what’s good

If you don’t tell me”

He takes your face in his hands

but forced eyes bleed
you notice the room is dark-

he’s not smiling anymore

you’re unfair
but you never asked for his coat
