Toni-ann Mattera

Feet

First

I ran after the black car
The pavement was wet
My feet were small
I didn’t understand
Why work could take him
But not me

Second

I stormed right back into his room
Although it wasn’t my fault
But my skin pulled me toward him
He was a magnet
I was a paper clip

Third

I marched and I yelled
As loud as I could
Thinking that, no one had been listening
But now maybe they would
It was not my first time following love
But it was the first time I chased after a woman
